Schenectady Spotlight: Caribe Spanish Restaurant & Sports Bar

Albany News

Caribe Spanish Restaurant & Sports Bar is a vibrant culinary destination in Schenectady, New York, known for its authentic Spanish, Caribbean, and Dominican cuisine, served in a lively, tropical-inspired atmosphere.

Based on its 4.8-star rating, it is highly regarded by customers for its delicious food, excellent service, and welcoming ambiance.

Uniqueness & History

The restaurant’s creation is a story of family tradition and community demand.

  • Family Legacy: Caribe was founded by the Fabian family and was inspired by their long-standing, smaller eatery, Mami’s Restaurant (located on Crane Street, operating for nearly 20 years).
  • A Bigger Vision: Regular customers of Mami’s requested a larger location suitable for dining in with friends and family. The Fabians answered this call by embarking on a two-year project starting in early 2021 to build Caribe.
  • Tropical Escape: The name “Caribe” translates to “Caribbean” in Spanish, and the owners intentionally designed the restaurant to make guests feel “transported to a tropical vacation.” This ambiance, combined with its sports bar amenities, creates a unique fusion of a cozy family dining spot and an energetic social hub.
  • Mission: The restaurant’s mission is to make every customer feel like family, providing exceptional quality and service for all dining, catering, and celebrating needs.

Significant Events

In recognition of its positive impact and rapid success in the community, Caribe Spanish Restaurant & Sports Bar was honored with the Rising Star/Outstanding New Business Award at the 2024 Annual Business Awards by the Chamber of Schenectady County.
